Normally a barrel pump consists of a long tube/hose that is long enough to reach the bottom of a 55 gallon barrel. A pump housing is attached to the tube and is placed at the opening of the container. A second hose leads from the pump housing to a separate container or wherever the inside materials are to be released. Pumps are either equipped with a motor or a crank. Cranks are preferred for industries where volatile liquids such as chemicals, oil, gasoline, solvents etc. are contained and handled.
